IPL 2022, Day 42 Highlights: Mumbai Indians beat Gujarat Titans by 5 runs

In a nail-biting thriller, Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 5 runs. GT had to wait to add "Q" of qualification before their name. We witnessed the proper battle between bat and bowl. MI is the most successful team in IPL history and GT is the most successful team in IPL 2022. Here are the key highlights of the game:

1. GT won the toss and elected to bowl first against MI

2. MI openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave a good start. Rohit Sharma played attacking shots and Ishan Kishan played fine shots. Rohit Sharma made 43 runs off 28 balls and Ishan Kishan made 45 runs off 29.

3. After the fall of their wickets, Suryakumar Yadav (13) and Kieron Pollard (4) didn't contribute much. However, Tilak Varma made 21 runs off 16 and Tim David gave a great finish by playing a cameo of 44 runs off 21.
 

4. MI managed to score 177/6 in their 20 over.

5. For GT, Rashid Khan took 2/24 in his 4 overs and was brilliant with the bowl.
 

6. Replying to the MI total,  GT openers Shubman Gill and Wriddman Saha built an amazing 106-run partnership. Saha made 55 runs off 40 and Gill made 52 runs off 36. Murugan Ashwin took wickets of both of them in the middle overs.
 

7. After the fall of their wickets, Hardik Pandya played a fine knock of 24 runs off 14. Pandya's run-out by Ishan Kishan has changed the match.
 

8. In the last two overs, GT needed 20 runs, Rahul Tewatia and David Miller were on Strike. In the 19th over, they hit 11 runs against Bumrah. However, the 20th over was excellently bowled by Danial Sams. 

9. GT needed 9 runs off 6 deliveries. Daniel Sams gave only 3 runs against the best finishers of this year's IPL (1, 0, 1W, 1, 0, 0)

10. GT managed to score 172/5 in their 20 overs and lost the match by 5 runs.

11. Tim David was declared player of the match.

12. Brief scores: Mumbai Indians (Ishan Kishan 45, Rohit Sharma 43, Tim David 44 not out, Tilak Varma 21; Rashid Khan 2/24) beat Gujarat Titans (Wriddhiman Saha 55, Shubman Gill 52, Hardik Pandya 24, David Miller 19 not out; Murugan Ashwin 2/29) by 5 runs.
