Vaughan criticized the team's approach, emphasizing the need to pick the right moments for aggression instead of being aggressive at every opportunity. Hussain echoed similar sentiments, stressing the importance of soaking up pressure in addition to being attacking.
In contrast, India's batsmen, particularly Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and debutant Sarfaraz Khan, exhibited mature innings by patiently settling in before unleashing their strokes. Vaughan praised India's batting display, highlighting their ability to absorb pressure and then capitalize on scoring opportunities.
The former England captains also criticized the poor judgment shown by England's batters, especially in crucial moments of the game. Root's dismissal with a reverse-scoop shot in the third Test drew particular scrutiny, with Hussain questioning the timing of the shot given the match situation.
Despite the setbacks, both Cook and Hussain believe that England has the potential to bounce back in the remaining matches of the series. However, they emphasize the need for the team to reassess their approach and make improvements to avoid further losses.
