The former Indian cricket team captain, Sourav Ganguly, stated that the game of T20 cricket is going to take the sport forward. Ganguly believes that the shortest form of the game is here to stay and would forever play a vital role in cricket.
At the unveiling ceremony of the Bengal Pro T20 League trophy at the Kolkata Cricket Club Ground in Kolkata, Ganguly appreciated the T20 format of the game and explained its ever-growing role in cricket. The representatives for the occasion were the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, Snehasish Ganguly, along with Sourav Ganguly himself and former Indian women's cricketer Jhulan Goswami.
Ganguly said, "It is a great introduction to the game. All of us who are used to longer formats like 2-day and 4-day cricket must accept that T20 cricket is one of those things that will always carry the game forward."

"It’s (T20 Leagues) happening in every state. We are probably 5-6 years late on this. Any way of playing the sport will always be very helpful. T20 is an important part of cricket these days and this will be a huge opportunity for everyone to perform."
On June 11, 2024, in Kolkata, the much-anticipated Bengal Pro T20 League will make its grand debut as eight teams prepare to show off their skills in front of a national audience.
