Bopanna and Ebden Secure Quarterfinal Spot at Miami Open

In a closely contested match that lasted one hour and 39 minutes, the top-seeded duo of Bopanna and Ebden secured a 7-5, 7-6 (3) victory over Nys from Monaco and Zielinski from Poland in the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 event on Monday evening.

Indian tennis player Rohan Boppana, alongside his partner from Australia, Matthew Ebden, advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's doubles at the Miami Open after a hard-fought battle against Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski.

In a closely contested match that lasted one hour and 39 minutes, the top-seeded duo of Bopanna and Ebden secured a 7-5, 7-6 (3) victory over Nys from Monaco and Zielinski from Poland in the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 event on Monday evening.

Despite facing tough opposition, the 43-year-old Bopanna and his partner Ebden showcased their resilience on the court, demonstrating their dominance by winning 84 percent of their first-serve points and delivering four aces.

The momentum swung back and forth throughout the match. Bopanna and Ebden managed to break Nys and Zielinski's serve in the crucial 11th game of the opening set, seizing a 6-5 lead. They then held their nerve to fend off break points and secure the set 7-5.

The second set saw both pairs maintaining their serves until 6-6, forcing the match into a tiebreaker. A pivotal double fault by Nys and Zielinski during the tiebreaker proved costly as Bopanna and Ebden capitalized on the opportunity, clinching the set and the match.

With this hard-earned victory, Bopanna and Ebden advanced to the next round, where they are set to face John Patrick Smith from Australia and Sem Verbeek from the Netherlands, aiming to continue their impressive run in the tournament.
