Won't Happen Again: CM Nitish Admits Mistake of Leaving NDA, Promises Stability

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday candidly acknowledged that he had erred in quitting the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) twice, vowing not to repeat such an action.

Speaking at a conference on cooperative departments organized by his party at Bapu Auditorium, Kumar, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah present, mused over his earlier political choices. "I erred twice, but it will not be so again," he declared, referring to his earlier changes in his alliance.

He also spoke of the development contributed by Bihar through the cooperative sector, laying down great advancement due to Amit Shah's initiative as Union Cooperation Minister. "Schemes rolled out during Amit Shah's regime have greatly influenced Bihar and affected individuals in the nation for good," Kumar mentioned.

Having a dig at erstwhile Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, he charged them with impeding Bihar's development prior to 2005. Law and order had become worse under their leadership, to the point where people did not dare go out after sunset, he claimed. In contrast, he pointed out the enhanced security and governance under his rule.

Kumar credited the Jeevika scheme as one of the major achievements of his government, saying that its success was so great that the Congress-led UPA government subsequently launched a similar program at the national level under the Ajeevika scheme. "Bihar's model of women empowerment through self-help groups has now become popular in the entire country," he further said.

The chief guest at the event was Amit Shah, who inaugurated various major development schemes in Bihar. He further announced that the NDA would contest the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections with Nitish Kumar as their leader and called on the people to grant the coalition a decisive mandate for further development and stability.
