"Whosoever Congress and NCP declare as CM face of MVA will be supported by Uddhav Thackeray. I don't have the feeling that I am fighting for myself but for the rights of Maharashtra," Thackeray said.

He said Thackeray was willing to support any chief ministerial candidate chosen by the Congress and NCP (SP), adding that his campaign is not aimed at deriving personal benefits but to 'protect' Maharashtra. On choosing a chief ministerial candidate first, he said the party with the highest number of seats should not be allowed to decide it.

He appealed to the MVA supporters to put aside personal interests and work towards protecting Maharashtra's pride and interest. Thackeray further urged them to take up the responsibility of espousing the cause of opposition alliance across the state.

It also raised doubts over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to Hindutva, citing his Independence Day speech that called for a secular civil code. He also took to task the Prime Minister for not passing the Waqf Amendment Bill during the time the BJP was in a majority in the Parliament.
