He said that the national interest should remain supreme over personal or political interests. “It is being seen that some people keep personal interest and political interest above the national interest. Those forces who keep political and personal interests above the nation should be stopped. Being Indian is our identity and nation first is our priority. Our resolve should be that we should not give up nationalism under any circumstances,”
Recalling 1975 Emergency, the Dhankhar termed it a dark chapter in Indian history. He said the Union government launched the “It is important to observe “Sanvidhan Hatya Diwas” to apprise the young generation of the flaws of the 1975 Emergency. There came a period when fundamental rights were abolished. Supreme Court also failed to render its duty. The dictatorial attitude of the executive was at its peak,” the Vice President said.
Moreover, the Vice President has termed organ donation a spiritual thing and the greatest expression of human compassion. He added that it was more than a physical way of donating an organ; rather, it was an epitome of the highest virtues such as compassion, empathy, and selflessness.
He urged every citizen to come forward and actively participate in this act of organ donation as a mission in the tradition of humanitarian service. He reminded that the theme for the occasion was "Be the Reason for Someone's Smile Today" and urged people to personally endorse this noble cause individually and through families.
