Supreme Court declined a plea aiming to oust Arvind Kejriwal from his role as the Chief Minister of Delhi.
"Why delve into this? What's the legal basis? The LG has the authority to act if deemed necessary," noted a bench led by Justice Sanjiv Khanna.
The Bench, comprising Justice Dipankar Datta, dismissed the special leave petition and refused to interfere with the dismissal of similar pleas by the Delhi High Court earlier.
The apex court had earlier, on May 10, granted interim bail to CM Kejriwal in the Excise Policy case till June 1.
Earlier, the Delhi HC turned down various PILs seeking Kejriwal's removal from office on three separate occasions.
The high court penalized former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sandeep Kumar with a Rs 50,000 fine for filing what it termed a "publicity interest petition," admonishing him for politicizing judicial proceedings.
