Addressing an election rally in Hooghly Lok Sabha constituency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said this time, Congress will get less number of seats than the age of a particular person without naming Rahul Gandhi. He said attaining more than 300 seats was not an aim by his party but a firm desire of millions of Indians.
During the rally, two ardent BJP supporters presented a portrait of the Prime Minister's mother as a heartfelt gift, prompting a grateful Modi to instruct his security personnel to accept the portrait and express his intention to send a letter of appreciation to the donors.
He talked about the eternal toiling of an Indian mother and contrasted the difference between the culture of the Indian land that celebrates motherhood every day and the Western tradition of celebrating Mother's Day on one special day.
Attacking the Trinamool Congress, he said the party stood for corruption and violence and is "destabilising the social fabric of the state and not thinking about the future aspirations of West Bengal's youths and their parents".
The Prime Minister contended that the inauguration of the Ram Temple had unsettled the Trinamool Congress, suggesting that their opposition stemmed from a desire to safeguard their voter base rather than respect for Bengal's cultural heritage.
Modi urged against disrespecting the centuries-long struggle for the Ram Mandir and criticized the Trinamool Congress for neglecting West Bengal's rich traditions by opposing the temple's construction.
Later in the day, Modi was scheduled to address gatherings in Arambagh and Howrah constituencies as part of his campaign efforts in West Bengal.
