The imminent wedding of the SP MP to the popular cricketer has generated widespread excitement in their home cities and among their fans, a rare and thrilling intersection of political and sporting stature uniting in wedlock.
Priya Saroj's father, Tufani Saroj, provided IANS with exclusive information regarding the wedding celebrations, giving us a glimpse of the elaborate arrangements to start with their engagement, to be held around about a week from now.
“We’re currently focused on the engagement scheduled for June 8. Preparations are in full swing. We’re organising everything, including the guest list—who’s coming from the family, how arrangements will be made—it’s all part of the planning,” he revealed.
When asked about the presence of celebrities, Saroj said, “I haven’t invited any celebrities as of now. Let’s see who turns up.”
Regarding the attendance of key Samajwadi Party leaders like Akhilesh Yadav and Dimple Yadav, he said, "I haven't personally met them, Priya has invited them too. If they're in Lucknow, they will definitely come.
On the question of cricketers such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli attending, Tufani Saroj remarked, “I don’t have any direct connection with the cricket world. Only Rinku knows which of his colleagues might attend. They may come for the wedding, but I’m not sure about the engagement.”
The engagement of the couple will be held on June 8 at a high-profile location in Lucknow, while the wedding will occur on November 18 at the Taj Hotel in Varanasi.
