Following a security evaluation conducted by central security agencies, there has been a recommendation for bolstering the security cover for Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. Consequently, the Central government has taken action by providing Z-category VIP security to Mr. Kumar, according to sources briefed on the matter.

Sources further reveal that the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has entrusted the Central Reserve Police Force with the responsibility of deploying approximately 40-45 personnel to ensure Mr. Kumar's enhanced protection, aligning with the recommendations of security agencies.

This decision coincides with the ongoing preparations for the upcoming seven-phase general elections commencing on April 19.

During his nationwide travels, the CEC will now be accompanied by armed commandos, as per insider sources familiar with the matter.
