Prominent Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has become the first preference as Chief Minister among United Democratic Front (UDF) leaders of Kerala, a recent survey reveals.
The survey, conducted allegedly by a private organization called Kerala Vote Vibe, has shown that 28.3% of the respondents are of the opinion that Tharoor is the best candidate to head the state.
Tharoor confirmed the findings by posting a news report of the survey on social media site X, with a folded hands emoji signifying appreciation.
The news comes at a time when there has been internal criticism against the Thiruvananthapuram MP for his recent comments after the Pahalgam terror attack. Some in the Congress are of the opinion that his comments have landed the party in trouble.
Kerala is also due to conduct its next Assembly elections in April next year, bringing the five-year stint of the second Left Democratic Front (LDF) administration, led by CPI(M) veteran Pinarayi Vijayan, to a close.
