In a significant turn of events, RJD's Bima Bharti announced on Monday that former MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, is set to extend his support to her in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Speaking to the press after a meeting with RJD state president Jagadanand Singh at the party's headquarters in Patna, Bharti expressed her readiness to contest from Purnea constituency.
She emphasized that the decision was in alignment with the party's directives, with the backing of key party figures. Bharti also highlighted Pappu Yadav's role as a mentor, asserting his solidarity with their cause.
Scheduled to file her nomination papers on April 3, Bharti's assertions come amidst a plea from the Congress leader urging RJD chief Lalu Prasad to vacate the Purnea seat for their party. However, Pappu Yadav remains resolute in his intent to contest from Purnea, signaling a potential independent candidacy.
Despite his recent merger of Jan Adhikar Party into the Congress, Yadav confirmed his nomination filing for April 4, underscoring his determination to pursue his political aspirations in the upcoming elections.
