Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a significant political shift occurred in Rajasthan as several prominent Congress leaders made the move to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday.

Among those who switched sides were former ministers Rajendra Yadav and Lal Chand Kataria, both of whom had served in the previous Congress administration led by Ashok Gehlot. Kataria also held a position as Union Minister of State during the previous UPA government.

Joining them were former Congress MLAs Ricchpal Mirdha, Vijaypal Mirdha, and Khiladi Bairwa, as well as former independent MLA Alok Beniwal. Additionally, notable figures such as former state Congress chief Seva Dal Suresh Chaudhary, Rampal Sharma, and Riju Jhunjhunwala also made the switch to the ruling party in the state.

The welcoming ceremony took place at the BJP's state headquarters in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, state BJP president C P Joshi, and Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav.

Of particular significance is the Mirdha family's involvement, as Ricchpal Mirdha, uncle of former Congress MP Jyoti Mirdha, along with his son Vijaypal Mirdha, joined the BJP. This move adds a new dynamic to the political landscape, especially in the Jat-dominated Nagaur and nearby regions, where the Mirdha family holds considerable influence.

Another notable addition to the BJP ranks was Randhir Singh Bhindar, a former BJP MLA who previously formed his own Janta Sena outfit before merging it with the BJP.

Alok Beniwal, son of former Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal, also chose to align with the BJP, further enriching the party's roster with experienced political figures.

With these latest developments, the political landscape in Rajasthan is poised for a significant transformation as parties gear up for the impending elections.
