Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, expressed confidence on Sunday that Sandeshkhali would play a pivotal role in shaping the BJP's fortunes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In a gathering organized by the BJP in Sandeshkhali, alongside BJP State President Sukanta Majumdar, Adhikari emphasized the significance of Sandeshkhali, stating that it has the potential to significantly influence the outcome of the entire Lok Sabha election. He projected an expectation of securing a lead of at least one lakh votes from Sandeshkhali alone.
Sandeshkhali has recently been embroiled in protests led by local women against purported instances of sexual harassment and violence involving certain leaders from the ruling Trinamool Congress. Adhikari asserted that the people of West Bengal would deliver a resounding response to the Trinamool Congress in the Lok Sabha polls, signaling an impending farewell to the allegedly corrupt ruling party.
Meanwhile, Sukanta Majumdar took a dig at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her recurrent portrayal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an "outsider." Majumdar countered this narrative by labeling the Prime Minister as a "true Bengali," highlighting his ability to honor the women of Bengal.
Adding to the discourse, Samik Bhattacharya, a BJP Rajya Sabha member, criticized the Trinamool Congress' selection of Lok Sabha candidates, branding the ruling party as lacking in both ideology and political integrity.
