Rajasthan Education Minister Challenges Historical Perception, Claims Akbar Was Not Great

Dilawar criticized Akbar's legacy, saying, "After all the things he (Akbar) has done, how can he be great? Akbar was not great at all." He also claimed that some school textbooks referred to patriots like Chandrashekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh as "terrorists."

Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar sparked controversy on Thursday by stating that the Mughal Emperor Akbar was not great, alleging that Akbar introduced the concept of Meena Bazaar where women were picked up.

Dilawar criticized Akbar's legacy, saying, "After all the things he (Akbar) has done, how can he be great? Akbar was not great at all." He also claimed that some school textbooks referred to patriots like Chandrashekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh as "terrorists."

Expressing concerns about such references, Dilawar stated that changes would be made to correct these aspects. He also announced a uniform dress code for all students, emphasizing that all students must wear the prescribed school uniform.

While clarifying the government's stance on hijab, Dilawar mentioned, "I have no objection to hijab. In our country, any person can wear any kind of dress, but students will be allowed to enter schools only in the prescribed school uniform. If any student has any objection, he or she can go to some other school where uniform relaxation is given."

Regarding the syllabus, Dilawar stated that the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus would not be implemented in Rajasthan at present. He expressed reluctance to make changes to the syllabus but suggested removing controversial or misleading information about ancestors.

In an unconventional move, Dilawar declared that February 14th, known as Valentine's Day, would be celebrated as Pitru Puja Day, focusing on ancestral worship. He urged quick preparations for the upcoming event.
