Senior BJP Leader Sushil Modi Reveals Cancer Battle, Withdraws from Lok Sabha Polls"

In a heartfelt message shared on social media platform X, Sushil Modi disclosed, "For the past six months, I have been grappling with cancer, and now is the time to disclose it publicly. Regrettably, I will not be able to actively contribute to my party's endeavors in the Lok Sabha elections. I have already conveyed my condition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I remain grateful and committed to serving my nation, Bihar, and my party."

A senior figure within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former deputy chief minister of Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi, revealed on Wednesday that he is currently battling cancer, rendering him unable to participate in the party's campaigning efforts for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Sushil Modi has long been a prominent BJP figure in Bihar, particularly vocal during the tenures of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi's administrations. He has played a pivotal role in bolstering the party's presence in the state and shares a close relationship with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Embarking on his political journey in 1990, Sushil Modi secured victory in the Patna Central assembly constituency (now Kumhrar). He went on to clinch re-election in 1995 and 2000 before winning the Lok Sabha seat from Bhagalpur in 2004.

Following the NDA's ascension to power in Bihar in 2005, Sushil Modi resigned from the Lok Sabha and assumed the role of deputy chief minister in Nitish Kumar's government. He retained this position when the NDA emerged victorious in the Bihar assembly elections of 2010. Currently, he serves as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha representing the BJP.
