The BJP is reportedly considering actor Suresh Gopi as its candidate for the Thrissur constituency, with posters featuring him already visible in the city ahead of Modi's visit. Despite Gopi's unsuccessful attempts in the 2019 Lok Sabha election and the 2021 assembly election in Thrissur, the party seems determined to make a mark in the region.

In response to queries about the significance of Modi's visit to Thrissur, K. Surendran, the state BJP President, stated that the Prime Minister has previously visited various cities in Kerala, including the state capital, Kozhikode, and Kochi. This visit to Thrissur is seen as part of the broader engagement with the state.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP-led NDA secured the second position in Thiruvananthapuram and a distant third in the remaining seats across the state. The party has so far won only one assembly seat in the state during the 2016 assembly polls, subsequently losing it in the 2021 assembly polls. Modi's visit is anticipated to energize the BJP's efforts to strengthen its position in Kerala.
