President Murmu Visits Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya Ahead of 'Narendra Modi Gallery' Inauguration

Acting as the inaugural visitor to the soon-to-be-opened 'Narendra Modi Gallery,' set for public access starting January 16, the Culture Ministry confirmed her engagement with the displays at the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya during the nearly one-and-a-half-hour visit.

President Droupadi Murmu made a historic visit to the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya on Monday, expressing her confidence that every Indian citizen touring this museum would swell with pride.

Acting as the inaugural visitor to the soon-to-be-opened 'Narendra Modi Gallery,' set for public access starting January 16, the Culture Ministry confirmed her engagement with the displays at the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya during the nearly one-and-a-half-hour visit.

President Murmu extended her exploration to the Constitution Gallery within the Teen Murti Bhavan's old building, housing the museum. Her admiration for the Sangrahalaya was recorded in the visitor book, where she articulated, "I am convinced that every Indian citizen who comes here and sees the various galleries of the Sangrahalaya will feel proud."

Scheduled to open its doors just ahead of the consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, the 'Narendra Modi Gallery' on the ground floor of the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya will feature sections on 'Sanskriti,' showcasing the construction of the Ram temple and the restoration of other temples, along with segments on 'Vikas,' 'Paryavaran,' and 'Suraksha,' among others.

Engaging with the diverse sections of the Sangrahalaya, including 'Sushashan,' 'Paryavaran,' 'Vikas,' 'Antarrashtriya Sadbhaava,' 'Vigyanodaya,' 'Sanskritik Dharohar,' 'Suraksha,' and 'Jan Bhagidari,' President Murmu was particularly impressed by the immersive and interactive displays. Her exploration extended to the experiential zone 'Anubhuti.'

In the new building of the Sangrahalaya, President Murmu delved into the Freedom and Unity Gallery, featuring films on Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. She took a keen interest in the personal effects of former prime ministers, including Lal Bahadur Shastri's badminton racket and charkha, as well as the passbook.

Touring the private wing of India's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, she explored his bedroom and study. Her visit also encompassed the display on the temples of Modern India, Toshakahana showcasing gifts received by prime ministers, and the recreation of 'Pokharan 2' nuclear tests.

President Murmu's engagement extended to the galleries of various prime ministers, featuring artifacts such as the badminton racket and charkha of Lal Bahadur Shastri and the letters of Jayaprakash Narayan. Her visit included sections on the Golden Quadrilateral, a film on the Kargil conflict, and a display on the Indo-US Civil nuclear deal.

Notable figures from the Prime Minister Museum & Library (PMML) Executive Council, including Chairman Nripendra Misra, Vice Chairman A Surya Prakash, Director Sanjiv Nandan Sahai, Vinaya Sahasrabuddhe, and Swapan Dasgupta, were present during the visit.

Since its inauguration on April 14, 2022, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Sangrahalaya has evolved into a significant destination for children, students, researchers, and tourists, attracting an average of 2,000 visitors daily. With approximately 7.5 lakh visitors since its inauguration, the Sangrahalaya continues to convey India's parliamentary democracy journey and developmental success to its diverse audience.
