Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a State Visit to three nations—Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia—between June 15 and 19, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Saturday. The visit will strengthen India's bilateral relations and fortify its strategic alliances with these prominent global partners.
The tour of the Prime Minister will commence in Cyprus on June 15–16, on the invitation of the country's President, Nikos Christodoulides.
This is the first official visit of an Indian Prime Minister to the Mediterranean island nation in more than 20 years. During his visit to the capital city, Nicosia, PM Modi will hold high-level talks with President Christodoulides and meet with leading business leaders in Limassol.
The visit will reaffirm the mutual commitment of the two nations to enhance bilateral relations and enhance India's engagement with the Mediterranean region and the European Union," the MEA wrote in its official statement.
After Cyprus, PM Modi will travel to Kananaskis, Canada, on June 16–17, to participate in the G-7 Summit, invited by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. It will be his sixth straight visit to the annual meeting, which convenes leaders of the world's most developed economies.
Prime Minister Modi will participate in the summit-level discussions with the member countries of G-7, invited outreach countries, and the leaders of major global institutions at the summit. The major items on the agenda are issues pertaining to global energy, technological advancements, artificial intelligence and energy, and issues related to quantum technologies.
The Prime Minister will also attend a series of bilateral meetings during the G-7 Summit.
The last leg of his tour will be to Croatia on June 18, a first—no Indian Prime Minister has ever visited the southeastern European country. His visit is in reply to an invitation by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic.
During his Zagreb stay, PM Modi will have official talks with Prime Minister Plenkovic and also meet President Zoran Milanovic.
The visit to Croatia would also reiterate India's dedication to further reinforcing its contact with partners in the European Union," the MEA said.
