In a scathing critique directed at the Centre, the Congress party asserted on Saturday that a growing number of Indians are grappling with concerns over inflation, economic downturns, unemployment, and conflicts, while the Modi government remains preoccupied with diverting the nation's attention.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh highlighted a media report indicating a significant rise in vegetable prices, ranging from 15 to 60 per cent over the past year. Sharing his thoughts in Hindi, Ramesh lamented the current state of affairs, stating that under the "era of arrogance," one in three Indians fears job loss, and 57 per cent are troubled by inflation.
He emphasized that a substantial portion of the Indian population is facing hardships due to inflation, economic recessions, unemployment, and conflicts, yet the Modi administration persists in diverting attention away from these pressing issues.
Ramesh vowed that the Congress party would persist in its efforts to seek justice for the people. He announced the commencement of the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra from Jalpaiguri on Sunday afternoon, marking the resumption of Rahul Gandhi-led padyatra in West Bengal after a pre-planned break of 12 consecutive days.
The Congress has been vocal in its criticism of the government's economic policies, expressing concerns over mounting unemployment and the spiraling cost of living.
