‘Painful and a matter of concern’: PM Modi reacts to Parliament security breach, says 'avoid squabbling'

In an interview with 'Dainik Jagran,' Modi highlighted ongoing investigations by probe agencies, underscoring the need to delve into the motives and individuals responsible for the breach.

Emphasizing the gravity of the security breach in Parliament, PM Modi has urged a unified approach rather than squabbling over the issue amidst opposition protests. 

In an interview with 'Dainik Jagran,' Modi highlighted ongoing investigations by probe agencies, underscoring the need to delve into the motives and individuals responsible for the breach.

Describing the incident as "painful and a matter of concern," Modi stressed the importance of a collective spirit in finding a solution, urging everyone to refrain from unnecessary discord, news agency PTI reported. He acknowledged the Speaker's serious approach in addressing the situation.

"Efforts should also be made to look for a solution with collective spirit. Everyone should avoid squabbling over such an issue," PM Modi said.

"The gravity of the incident which happened in Parliament should not be underestimated," he added.

After the Parliament security breach on December 13, where two individuals jumped from the visitors' gallery into the Lok Sabha chamber, opposition parties demanded a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah, and some called for Shah's resignation. The government asserted that the Lok Sabha secretariat is responsible for Parliament complex security, citing past violations and accusing the opposition of politicizing the issue.

Responding to queries about the BJP appointing relatively new leaders as chief ministers in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan, Modi defended the choices, noting the leaders' extensive experience and hard work. He criticized societal influences for maintaining a trite and narrow mindset, impacting various fields, including politics.

Modi expressed concern about the media's historical focus on a few families, hindering the acknowledgment of new talent. He clarified that seemingly new leaders have earned their place through hard work and experience, challenging the notion of novelty.

Citing the BJP's success in recent assembly polls, Modi anticipated a historic win in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He urged opposition parties to introspect on why their claims are not resonating with the public.
