No power in the universe can bring back Article 370: PM Modi

According to the Prime Minister, the abrogation of Article 370 is a crucial step for the development and improved quality of life for the residents of the region. He highlighted that the region was held captive by certain political dynasts for their own interests, and the common people of Jammu and Kashmir aspire to move beyond selfish politics. PM Modi emphasized the shared desire of the citizens, irrespective of regional differences, to overcome historical challenges and secure a future without discrimination for their children.

In a staunch defense of the abrogation of Article 370, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized that the recent Supreme Court ruling supporting the decision reinforces the impossibility of having two legislations in one country. In an interview with Dainik Jagran, PM Modi underscored the significance of the abrogation for the people of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, asserting that it transcends political considerations.

"Jammu and Kashmir was captured by some dynasts because of their political interests. The common people of Jammu and Kashmir are neither a part of anyone's selfish politics, nor do they want to be. Like every citizen of the country, they want to overcome the troubles of the past and secure the future of their children and their present without any discrimination," PM Modi said.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court delivered a significant judgment, validating the Union government's decision on August 5-6, 2019, to revoke Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The unanimous decision by a five-judge Constitution bench, led by the Chief Justice of India, affirmed that the State of Jammu and Kashmir no longer retains any element of sovereignty after the execution of the Instrument of Accession.

Despite this, the court directed the Election Commission to take necessary measures to conduct elections to the Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir, as specified under Section 14 of the Reorganisation Act, by September 30, 2024. This ruling further solidifies the legal and valid nature of the government's decision to abrogate Article 370.
