Responding to Ramesh, BJP in-charge of national information and technology department Amit Malviya said, The two nation theory was first propounded by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, founder of Aligarh Muslim University, who gave the idea back in 1876, much before Savarkar was even born (1883). Savarkar and the Hindu Mahasabha were in fact opposed to idea of Partition, till the very end."

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged that the real intent of the PM to mark August 14 as 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' is to use the most traumatic historical events as fodder for his current political battles. Lakhs were dislocated and lost their lives. Their sacrifices must not be forgotten or disrespected. Jairam was responding to the PM's tweet in which he said, "Today, on #PartitionHorrorsRemembranceDay, I pay homage to all those who lost their lives during Partition, and applaud the resilience as well as grit of all those who suffered during that tragic period of our history."

But they insist that any formulation will be led by the Congress, which is the biggest bloc in terms of numbers in the Lower House of Parliament. Bihar: CPI (ML) not to take ministerial berth in new govt
Dipankar Bhattacharya, the national general secretary of CPI (ML), made the announcement on Saturday. "We are part of the seven party government in Bihar but we will not take any ministerial berth in it. The Bihar Chief Minister has taken an extremely bold decision in the interest of the nation which is highly appreciable. Governor Banwari Lal Purohit gave nod to the gazette notification of 'One MLA, One Pension' amendment.In a statement, the Chief Minister said in the last 75 years, the elected representatives have turned into political executives by drawing extravagant salaries and pensions from the state exchequer. He said the entire burden of the pension facility extended to these leaders is met by taxpayers.
