Fair chances of party split if non-Gandhi is made Congress President: Pramod Tiwari
Rajya Sabha MP and CWC member Pramod Tiwari has expressed apprehension of breakdown in the party if a non-Gandhi is made the President. Talking to the media at the Congress headquarters in Jaipur, Tiwari said: "The programme for the election of the Congress President has been announced and whoever wants to make a nomination can file the papers.
Shrikant Tyagi's wife alleges threat to life from BJP MP

CM Nitish, Rahul Gandhi meeting goes on for nearly an hour
Nitish Kumar reached Gandhi's residence at 6.10 p.m. and only left at 7.08 p.m. Prior to reaching New Delhi, Nitish Kumar called on RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav at the official residence of his wife and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi in Patna. She was also present in their meeting, along with Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav.
CBI officer pressured to frame me in false case, committed suicide: Manish Sisodia
"A CBI officer committed suicide two days earlier. It has come to know that the officer - Jitendra Kumar - was the Deputy Legal Adviser in the Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI. He was looking after the legality of the fake FIR against me. He was being pressurised to approve the arrest by making a case against me in an illegal way," Manish Sisodia said in a press briefing here.
Congress' 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' under national flag
The purpose behind the march with the national flag is that the Congress wants other like-minded parties and civil society groups to join the programme, said a Congress leader. On the proposed march, Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that the opposition has no way but to go to the people of the country. Prior to the Congress' 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', Rahul Gandhi will visit the Rajiv Gandhi memorial at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu on September 7.
Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren wins trust vote, BJP stages walkout
Soren got 48 votes, while the BJP walked out during the House proceedings. Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Hemant Soren tabled a confidence motion in the Jharkhand Assembly. He claimed that the BJP was attempting to poach UPA MLAs, which prompted him to take the step. The Chief Minister lambasted the BJP for creating uncertainty in the state.
AIMPLB questions Yogi's decision to survey madrasas
The AIMPLB has termed it a part of the "targeting" of the institutions by the BJP-ruled states. Qasim Rasool Ilyas, executive member of the AIMPLB, said, "Madrasas are being targeted in Uttar Pradesh and Assam. This is being done even though minority institutions are protected under the law. In Assam, the government has gone as far as to bulldoze some of the smaller madrasas while converting others to schools.
Nitish on 2-day visit to Delhi, to meet Opposition leaders
After holding the customary Janata Darbar programme in Patna, Nitish Kumar will go to Delhi and stay there for two days. Sources have said that Kumar will meet Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Left party leader D. Raja, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others. Kumar met Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekher Rao in Patna last week.

Elaborating further, he asked about the types of fears that were rising in India -- "The fear for future, fear of rising prices and the fear of rising unemployment," the Congress leader said. "The hate divides the society leading to weakening of the country. The BJP and RSS are involved in dividing the society, deliberately creating hate and fear in the country. "In the last 8 years since when the saffron party came into the power, the farmers, Dalit, poor, small scale industries, labourers, have got nothing. Only two industrialists are getting all the advantage.
