Bihar Minister remains firm on his 'chief of thieves' statement

Sudhakar Singh is the son of Rashtriya Janata Dal state president Jagadanand Singh. He said at a public meeting that there are many thieves in his department and as he is the minister of the department, he becomes the chief of thieves. While interacting with media persons in Patna, Singh said that he stands by his statement and will not amend it or complain that the statement was twisted by the media.

Nagarathna, he said: "We have great regard for the chair that you sit on, this is a marriage that cannot be broken between the bar and the bench." He also added that the ground reality disturbs a man like him. At this, the bench remarked that the bar and bench are two wheels of the chariot. Sibal made these remarks while representing Abdulla Azam Khan, the son of SP leader Azam Khan.
Congress to step up Bharat Jodo Yatra in other states from Sep 16

Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said, "Me and Digvijaya Singh will visit Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha from September 16 onwards. Our effort would be to mobilise the state units to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra." The Congress wants all the state units to participate in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, starting the exercise from the block level.

However, as per the available documents with IANS, a report by the then Deputy Commissioner was made highlighting the irregularities in the procurement process which recommended that DTC should scrap the tender and should call fresh bids. Highlighting the irregularities, the report underlined, "For the abovementioned reasons, it is recommended that the DTC should scrap the tender and should call fresh bids without any delay".

As per reports, as soon as Chandna came to deliver his speech, people started protesting and hurled shoes at him, raising 'Sachin Pilot Zindabad' slogans. Taking to Twitter, Ashok Chandna said: "Today a wonderful sight was seen when Rajendra Rathod, (then cabinet member) who ordered the killing of 72 persons was applauded when he came on the stage and shoes were thrown at those whose family members went to jail during the (Gurjar reservation) agitation."

"There are many thieves in my department and they are stealing money. As I am the in-charge of the department, I become their chief. There are many other chiefs above me. This government is old and its style of work is also old. It's up to the duty of common people to alert the government," he said while addressing a gathering of farmers in Kaimur district on Sunday.

He dismissed the news reports - which went on to suggest internal strife within the party at its two-day national conclave - as absolutely misleading and speculative. "I had been sitting on the stage since morning. It was natural for any human being to feel the urge to go to the washroom. But the media has blown it out of proportions. Can't I even step into the washroom?" an annoyed Ajit Pawar said.
