Himachal Congress chief Pratibha banks on family legacy, contribution

Sensing party heading to absolute majority in the state, Pratibha Singh, who has not contested the assembly polls, has been projected as the prospective Chief Minister. Coming out openly after retaining his Shimla (Rural) seat for the second consecutive term, Vikramaditya Singh said, "We will form a government with a full majority... She (Pratibha Singh) is one of the contenders for the CM post.
Respecting mandate, Himachal CM Thakur to submit resignation

Setting aside rumours of horse-trading to stake claim to form the government, plain speaking Thakur, who retained his Seraj Assembly seat for the sixth consecutive term with a record margin, said he respected the mandate of the people. "It is for the Congress to keep its flock (of legislators) together," he replied when questioned about the chances of poaching the Congress legislators by the BJP.
SP wins Mainpuri, Khatauli goes to RLD and BJP gets Rampur

SP candidate Dimple Yadav won the Mainpuri seat with a margin of 2.9 lakh votes, defeating Raghuraj Shakya of the BJP. The Mainpuri victory is doubly significant for Akhilesh Yadav since it not only means retaining the family seat but also spells a patch up between him and his estranged uncle Shivpal Yadav.
BJP claims victory, Samajwadi Party concedes defeat in Rampur bypoll

BJP candidate Akash Saxena told the reporters that he would work to develop Rampur as an industrial hub. He said that Rampur had broken the shackles of slavery after 50 years and had chosen the BJP. SP candidate Asim Raza, while leaving the counting centre, said that there was no election because 2.25 lakh people were not allowed to cast their vote.

BJP's Kedar Prasad Gupta defeated JD(U) candidate Manoj Kushwaha with a margin of 3,645 votes after all the 23 rounds of counting. Kedar Gupta managed to obtain 76,648 votes while Manoj Kushwaha got 73,016 votes. At the end of 22 round counting, Manoj Kushwaha left the centre.
Don't accuse Speaker on Twitter: Birla advises TMC MP Mahua Moitra

The latest counting trends showed that AAP's Gujarat chief Gopal Italia was trailing in Katargam seat and Alpesh Kathiriya was trailing in Varachha Road seat, both in Surat. According to the Election Commission of India's data, the BJP has won 42 seats and was leading on 115 seats at around 2.55 p.m.. The Congress has won three seats and was leading in 13. The AAP was leading in five seats, independents were ahead on three and the SP was leading on one seat.

Shivpal merges his PSPL into SP

SP president Akhilesh Yadav put the party flag on Shivpal's car in Saifai on Thursday afternoon. Shivpal had formed the PSPL in 2018, two years after his rift with nephew his Akhilesh. As the rift widened, the SP slipped downhill in state politics, losing election after election.
