As BJP begins its 2024 countdown, major revamp on cards in party, govt

In view of these, a major revamp is expected within the party, and the government, and preparations are being made to implement it in the coming days. While implementing the said changes, the Assembly elections to be held in 10 states/Union Territories, such as Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Jammu and Kashmir, will be kept in mind.

As part of the G20 Finance Track, the first G20 Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting under the Indian presidency took place in Bengaluru on December 13-14, 2022. SC's 'Triple Test' for OBC quota in local body polls pits state govts against it

Most recently, Uttar Pradesh moved the Supreme Court against the Allahabad High Court order, which asked it to proceed with urban local body elections without reservation for OBCs. The high court noted that the government is yet to fulfil the triple test requirement laid down by the Supreme Court for such reservation. In the past, the triple test had haunted the Maharashtra government, which pursued a rigorous legal battle in the apex court, and also troubled the Madhya Pradesh government.
Demands for separate states in N-E gain traction before polls

The creation of separate Garo, Khasi states in Meghalaya, the separate state of 'Frontier Nagaland' and elevation of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) into "Greater Tipraland State" for the tribals are the key issues in the poll bound three states. The leaders of the national political parties including the BJP, the Congress and the CPI-M, though not supporting the separate state demand, remained non-committal about openly opposing the issue fearing loss of tribal votes.

Assam CM takes a dig at Rahul Gandhi over 'guru' remark

Earlier on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi had said that he considers the BJP as his 'guru' (teacher), as it BJP shows him a roadmap and teaches him "what should never be done". "I want them (BJP) to attack us aggressively, this will help the Congress understand its ideology. I consider them (BJP) as my Guru, they are showing me the way and training me on what is not to be done. I want to thank the people from the BJP and RSS, because the more they target us, it helps us in some way or the other," the Congress leader had said.
Nitish has no issue if Rahul is named opposition PM face in 2024

Nitish Kumar also reiterated that he is neither in the race to become the opposition's PM face, nor does he have any desire to become the Prime Minister. "I have no desire to become the Prime Minister of India. If Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister of the country, what is wrong in that? We are just waiting to talk with all the parties and bring them to the opposition camp," Nitish Kumar said while interacting with mediapersons here.
Baghel meets Modi, offers condolences on his mother's demise

Rahul says he considers BJP-RSS his 'guru' as 'they show what not to do'

I think the opposition should stand effectively on ground and work in a manner to counter the BJP," he said. When asked about a Prime Ministerial face, the Congress leader said: "My main focus right now is for a united India, we should fight against hatred. My focus is only to unite India."
