Defamation case: Patna court summons Rahul Gandhi on April 12
Sushil Modi has levelled criminal defamation charges against Gandhi for making statements against people with Modi surname. The court has directed Rahul Gandhi's lawyer to appear before it. Rahul Gandhi, during the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign in Karnataka, said that all people having Modi surname are thieves. He had also said that Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi had taken away thousands of crores of rupees and fled the country.
Karnataka High Court disqualifies JD(S) MLA, gives relief for appeal
The single division bench headed by Justice Sunil Dutt Yadav gave him relief by issuing a stay on the order for one month. Gowrishankar represents the Tumakuru Rural constituency. His rival BJP candidate Suresh Gowda had filed a complaint against him. It was alleged that Gowrishankar had offered group health insurance schemes for elders and children through Maruthi Seva Trust, in which his family members are trustees, during the 2018 Assembly elections.
Kerala Lokayukta to take up case against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday
The case involves mishandling of the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF). It's been a year since this case has been waiting for the verdict and it was only after the petitioner approached the Kerala High Court last week seeking its intervention that things have now speeded up. The High Court asked the petitioner to approach the Lokayukta with his petition and it was after this ruling came, that the Lokayukta decided to take up the case on Friday.

Zee News-Matrize opinion poll hints at tight contest in Karnataka
According to an opinion poll conducted by Zee News-Matrize between March 3 and March 28 among over 56,000 people, out of the 224 Assembly seats in Karnataka, BJP is expected to get 96 to 106 seats, while Congress is likely to win 88 to 98 seats, thus indicating a tough fight. The JD(S) is expected to win only 23 to 33 seats. The majority mark in the state Assembly is 112 seats.

Special Judge Geetanjli Goel of the Rouse Avenue Courts asked the probe agency to provide a copy of the charge sheet filed earlier to all the accused persons. The court fixed the next date of hearing on April 5 as the agency moved an application for an early hearing in the matter and some of the accused submitted that they would file a reply to the agency's plea.
