For continued growth, retain double engine govt: PM in poll-bound Karnataka

The elections are not about forming a government in the state but about making Karnataka the number one state in the country, he added.Addressing a huge public rally in Humnabad of Bidar, PM Modi maintained that if India has to emerge as a developed country, there must be a developed Karnataka. The people of the state have suffered enough due to coalition governments. The focus of the coalition government won't be on the people. When the JD(S)-Congress coalition was there, JD(S)'s loyalty was towards the Congress and not the people.

On Friday evening, Delhi Police registered two FIRs against the WFI president in response to the sexual harassment allegations made by the women wrestlers. Speaking to reporters, Brij Bhushan said: "Resignation is not a big deal but I am not a criminal. If I resign, it will mean that I have accepted their (wrestlers') allegations. My tenure is almost over (next month). The government has formed a three-member committee and elections will be held in 45 days and my term will end after the elections.

The top Indian wrestlers have been protesting since Sunday, demanding the removal and criminal action against Brij Bhushan over alleged sexual exploitation and harassment as president of the WFI. Priyanka Gandhi accused the Centre of "protecting" the outgoing WFI chief.Speaking to reporters, the Congress leader said, "when these girls win medals, everyone tweets, say they are our country's pride but now when they are sitting on the road and seeking to be heard, saying they have been wronged, no one is ready to listen to them. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud and comprising Justice P.S. Narasimha asked petitioner Ashish Giri, appearing in person, "what kind of petition is this and who are you, what is your locus?" Giri said he moved the top court as the court heard various petitions relating to the dispute between the Thackeray and the Shinde factions. He submitted that the assets of the party should be transferred to the Shinde group.
