Karnataka Assembly elections: Polling begins across state amid tight security

The polling, which started at 7 a.m., will continue till 6 p.m. Brisk voting is expected across the state, as major political parties in the state are locked in the close contest. The ruling BJP is hoping to create history by obtaining a simple majority for the first time in the state, which is considered the gateway for South India. The saffron party won 110 seats in the 2008 Assembly elections and 104 seats in the 2018 Assembly elections. On both occasions, it succeeded to form the government "through operation lotus".

Kurmi leaders call for boycott of panchayat polls in Bengal

Trinamool MLA Ajit Maiti's comments on Sunday equating the Kurmi agitation with the Khalistan movement have irked the community members further, who have now called for a total boycott of the panchayat polls. Although Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself has apologised on behalf of Ajit Maiti for the latter's comments, it didn't seem to have satisfied the Kurmi leaders.
PIL in Delhi HC claims Rahul, Kejriwal made misleading statements on loan waiver for industrialists

The PIL states: "That the Petitioner came across news items in electronic and print media where news related to waiving of loan to the tune of Rs 11 lakh crore had been broadcasted on NDTV in the year 2021. "Similarly, News24 channel had published more than two years ago that loans of 50 loan defaulters have been waived off and that loan amount was to the tune of Rs 68,000 crore which included the name of Mehul Choksi."

Nitish-Naveen Meet: No discussion on formation of alliance, says Odisha CM

Both the Chief Ministers had lunch together. However, no discussion was held about forming an alliance, said Patnaik after the meeting. The Odisha Chief Minister said 1.5 acres of land will be given to the Bihar government at Puri free of cost for the Bihar tourists and pilgrims, who come to visit the temple of Lord Jagannath.
