Karnataka records 72.67% voter turnout in Assembly elections: Election Commission
Barring few incidents, the polling was overall peaceful, the EC Secretariat said in a statement. The southern state had crossed 50 per cent of voters turnout in the post-lunch period. By 5 p.m., 65.69 per cent of voters turned out and excercised their voting rights. The voter turnout in the high voltage Varuna seat was recorded at 84.39 per cent. It is one among the keenly observed seats as Opposition leader Siddaramaiah and Minister for Housing V. Somanna are contesting from this seat.
'Manipur people who took shelter in Assam returning to their homes'

Polling begins for final phase of UP municipal polls
The counting of votes for both phases is scheduled for Saturday. even municipal corporations (nagar nigams)- Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Aligarh, Kanpur Nagar and Ayodhya - will be electing their mayors on Thursday. Shahjahanpur will vote for the first time as a nagar nigam. Polling is being held for 7,006 posts.
Excise policy case: Delhi HC to hear CBI's arguments on Sisodia's bail plea today
The CBI on Wednesday opposed the bail plea, arguing that the AAP leader was in a position of power and had political clout. Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S.V. Raju, appearing for the probe agency, said that Sisodia controlled various departments including the excise and had wilfully destroyed evidence and a mobile phone.

Talking to reporters after some post-poll surveys, after the voting, indicated a hung Assembly, D.K. Shivakumar said: "I don't believe in the numbers shown in the post poll surveys. As I have said, I am committed to my statement of Congress winning 146 seats in the elections."
Exit poll puts Cong as single-largest party in Karnataka with 110-120 seats
As per the India TV-CNX exit poll prediction, the Congress is likely to win 110-120 seats in the 224-member Assembly, while the ruling BJP will come second with 80-90 seats. The exit poll also predicted that JD(S) is likely to win 20-24 seats, while 'Others', including Independents, may win 1-3 seats.
Congress poised to gain in Central Karnataka, likely to win 18-22 seats
The exit poll also predicted that former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda's Janata Dal-S is likely to win one seat in the region, where it had drawn blank in 2018. As per the exit poll, the Congress is also set to gain in vote share in the Central Karnataka region at 43.9 per cent, a swing of 7.9 per cent as compared to its 2018 share of 36 per cent.

Contrary to earlier projections and many forecasts by political analysts, the ruling BJP is doing much better than expected, though it is trailing the Congress and is unlikely to remain in power. The third force in this triangular contest, the JD(S) is projected to be a distant third and appears to be in danger of becoming a marginal player in the state.
