Shivakumar reaches Delhi, to discuss cabinet expansion with top brass
Shivakumar is, on Thursday, likely to meet Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence to discuss the cabinet expansion and other issues related to the state. Interacting to media after his arrival, he said: "I am here to meet the party leadership to discuss various issues including the expansion of the state cabinet."

BJP, Bajrang Dal activists attacked with swords in Karnataka
According to the police, the incident took place near Mani in Bantwal taluk. It is suspected that the attack was a fallout of BJP's celebrations that followed the announcement of Assembly election results in the region. The BJP won six out of the eight seats in Dakshina Kannada district.
Punjab CM to boycott inaugural ceremony of new Parliament
In a statement here, the Punjab Chief Minister said whenever the new session of Parliament is called every MP is invited by the President to attend the session. However, he said it is ironical that the constitutional head of the government has not even been invited to the function to mark inauguration of the new Parliament.

Azam Khan acquitted in hate speech case
He was convicted under Sections 153A (promoting enmity between two groups), 505 (statement conducing to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code and section 125 of the Representation of People Act 1951. Azam Khan, after being convicted in the case, was sentenced to three years in prison. He had appealed against the order, after which he was acquitted.
