For Dravidian parties, anti-Hindi protests a way to re-assert Tamil identity

The first such agitations in the state were carried in 1937 after Hindi teaching was made compulsory in the erstwhile Madras presidency by the first Congress government of the state led by C. Rajagopalchari. This move was opposed by E.V.S. Ramasamy Periyar or Thanthai Periyar considered as the father of the Dravidian movement.

The development came a day after Special Judge Vikas Dhull had granted anticipatory bail to Tytler, and Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vidhi Gupta Anand had on July 26 summoned the Congress on Saturday. During the hearing, Tytler's wife, Jennifer stood security for him in the case, and the court verified her identity and financial status.

According to sources, Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha membership is likely to be restored by Monday or Tuesday. A copy of the Supreme Court verdict would also be sent to the Lok Sabha Secretariat following which the necessary procedures would be followed as well. A notification is also likely to be issued regarding the restoration of Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha membership.
Jharkhand MLAs set to get monthly salary, allowance of Rs 2.88L; highest in country

Once implemented, the legislators will become the highest-earning MLAs in the country with a monthly salary and allowances of Rs 2.88 lakh. Presently, the MLAs of Telangana get a maximum amount of Rs 2.50 lakh per month. In the budget session of the Assembly, the legislators from both sides -- ruling and opposition -- unanimously passed the proposal for a salary hike.
SC stays conviction of Rahul in defamation case but says remarks not in good taste
