Congress Jharkhand in-charge says party ready with 2024 road map for the state

Battle for UP: 7th phase marks end of fiercely contested poll

As the curtain comes down on the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, with just a few hours left for the final and seventh phase of polling on Monday, the stakes have reached an all-time high for major political players in Uttar Pradesh.A total of 54 Assembly constituencies of Purvanchal will go for polling on March 7 while counting for all the phases will be done on March 10. The districts going to polls in the final phase are Azamgarh, Mau, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Bhadohi and Sonbhadra.

Manipur Assembly polls: Over 40% voter turnout till noon

Over 40 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 12 p.m on Saturday in the second and final leg of the Manipur Assembly polls held in 22 of the 60 constituencies amid tight security, officials said. Election and police officials said a firing incident was reported from Senapati district and activists of political parties clashed in Mao and Moreh, halting the polling briefly. However, details of these incidents are awaited.

Polling begins for final phase of Manipur Assembly elections

A large number of voters including women and new electorates queued up in front of the polling stations before the voting for 22 of the total of 60 Assembly seats started at 7 a.m. The polling would continue till 4 p.m. without any break. A total of 8,38,730 electors including 4,28,679 females and 31 transgender, are eligible to cast their votes across 1,247 polling stations in six electoral districts.
No harm in KCR-Soren meet but Congress cautious

The Congress on Friday said there is no harm in the KCR-Soren meeting scheduled to be held later in the day, but it is cautious as it was unaware of the said move despite being an ally in the Jharkhand government. The Congress being a junior partner in the Hemant Soren-led government, it was not aware of the meeting. KCR is meeting non-BJP and non-Congress chief ministers to prepare for the 2024 elections.
Its generation change in Kerala CPI-M as veterans get replaced by youngsters

The 23rd edition of the CPI-M's state party conference on Friday decided to go for a generational shift with the induction of more youngsters as party state officer-bearers by replacing all those members, except Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who are aged above 75 years.
