Punjab CM Channi meets Amit Shah, discusses Bhakra Beas management
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed the issue of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMS). Channi also said that 997 students from the state were in Ukraine, out of whom 420 have returned, and 200 students have reached Poland and are safe but some of the people are still stuck in Ukraine.

Karnataka Assembly session to resume, govt to table anti-conversion Bill
The anti-conversion Bill, which was tabled and passed in the state Legislature Assembly, is yet to be presented before the Legislative Council. The BJP attempted to present it on the last day of the winter session in Belagavi, however, as the opposition raised a strong objection for presenting the bill in the council without bringing it first on the agenda. The council session ended after witnessing a high drama.
Satta Bazar predicts AAP govt in Punjab, BJP ahead in Uttarakhand
Bookies, who run the satta market, have predicted the people of Punjab may see a new party in power after years, as they give 65 seats to the Aam Aadmi Party in the 117-member Assembly. There are no bids for other parties. The bookies are also predicting that BJP is bagging 34 seats in Uttarakhand, a couple of seats short of a majority in the 70-member house.
Now candidates can spend up to Rs 8 lakh in MCD polls
Now candidates contesting Municipal Polls in Delhi can spend up to Rs 8 lakh for campaigning, as the State Election Commission of India has increased the limit of election expenditure. S.K. Srivastava, the Commissioner of State Election Commission of Delhi, passed an order in this respect. Earlier, the limit imposed by the State Election Commission of Delhi was Rs 5.75 lakh.
Controversy erupts after Chennai Mayor meets Bishop who made 'anti-Hindu remarks'
A fresh controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu with fringe Hindu groups coming out against first Dalit woman Mayor of Chennai, R. Priya meeting a controversial Bishop Ezra Sargunam, who in a speech earlier called upon Christians to punch Hindus hard in the face till they bleed. He had also said that there was nothing called Hindu religion and had asked the Christian faithfuls to beat up anyone who says that Hinduism was a religion.
Polling begins for final phase of UP Assembly elections
This phase will bring the curtain down on one of the most fiercely contested elections in the state. Polling is being held in a total of 54 Assembly constituencies of Purvanchal, spread across nine districts. The districts where polling is being held include Azamgarh, Mau, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Bhadohi and Sonbhadra. The counting for all the phases will be done on March 10.
