Major embarrassment for Capt Amarinder, loses Patiala seat
In a major embarrassment for two-time Punjab Chief Minister and Congress rebel Capt Amarinder Singh in a fag-end of his political career, he faced a humiliating defeat from AAP's greenhorn Ajit Pal Kohli with over 13,000 votes on Thursday from his stronghold Patiala (Urban), the seat that he has won for four consecutive terms since 2002 when he first contested.
Manipur heading for hung assembly, BJP single largest party
Like the last assembly elections in 2017, Manipur once again is heading for a hung assembly with the ruling BJP, according to the latest trend, emerging as the single largest party securing 20 seats in the 60 member House. BJP's estranged ally National People's Party (NPP) has bagged seven seats. The BJP, however, is confident of forming the government in Manipur for the second term with the support of smaller parties.
BJP leading in 248 seats in UP, SP in 112
The ruling BJP was leading in 248 seats and Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party (SP) was ahead in 112 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission trends on Thursday showed. Trends were available for 399 seats of 403 till 12 noon. The Apna Dal (Sonelal) was leading in 12 Assembly seats and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) was leading in eight seats. The Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) were leading in two and four Assembly constituencies respectively.

As trends show that the BJP is set to regain all the four states it was ruling and the Congress is on the verge of losing Punjab, the spotlight now shifts to leadership and the team which was operating behind the scenes, whether for Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Fingers will be pointed at the teams and leadership of Rahul and Priyanka.

AAP's Charanjit leads against Congress Charanjit in Chamkaur Sahib, Punjab
Aam Aadmi Party's Charanjit Singh is leading from Chamkaur Sahib seat in Punjab by 1,980 votes against state Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi in a nerve-racking contest. As per the Election Commission update at 11.30 a.m., CM Channi has so far secured 30,880 votes while AAP candidate Charanjit Singh has till now received 32,860 votes.
BJP leading in Uttrakhand, but CM Dhami is trailing in Khatima
As per latest Election Commission update at 11 a.m., the BJP is leading in 44 constituencies with 44.2 per cent vote share while the principal opposition party Congress is leading in 21 seats with 39.2 per cent vote share. The Bahujan Samaj Party is leading in two seats with 4.8 per cent vote share while two independents are leading in Uttarakhand.
BJP leading in 241 seats in UP, SP ahead in 103
The ruling BJP was leading in 241 seats and Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party (SP) was ahead in 103 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission trends on Thursday showed. Early vote share percentages showed -- BJP has 42.31 per cent votes counted, SP 31.70 per cent, RLD 3.36 per cent, BSP 12.88 per cent and Congress 2.56 per cent.
Goa CM Sawant takes lead, 2 DyCMs trailing
After initially trailing his nearest Congress rival Dharmesh Saglani, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant now leads by 605 votes from the Sanquelim Assembly seat after four rounds of counting, even as deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar continues to trail his Congress rival Altone D'Costa by 2,800 votes in the Quepem Assembly seat.
