Although Karnataka and especially its capital Bengaluru have witnessed violence, communal clashes and terrorist strikes in the past, never in its history has the state faced a similar situation. The growing demand for banning Muslim merchants from the temple premises, religious fairs, 'halal' meat, Muslim mango traders, artisans, transporters and drivers and banning the hijab by Hindutva forces has suddenly put the peaceful state under the spotlight for the wrong reasons.
Court notice to MP Jaya Bachchan on land deal case

The notice has been issued on the basis of a criminal case filed against Samajwadi Party MP Bachchan by Anuj Daga -- son of former BJP legislator Jitendra Daga, accusing her of cancelling a land sale deal, even after receiving a portion of the payment. Daga's lawyer Enosh George Carlo, talking to IANS on Saturday said that in the complaint, Jaya Bachhan has been accused of demanding a higher price than the agreed amount.

Yogi govt promises strict action after UP CMO's Twitter hacked

The state CMO's Twitter account was briefly hacked in the early hours of Saturday and was immediately restored. Twitter had suspended the account after observing unnatural activity. Before it got restored, the unnamed hackers had sent out 400-500 tweets from the account.

Congress to call party's Maharashtra Ministers after MLAs complaint

Sources say that Congress President Sonia Gandhi has sought a report from state in charge H.K. Patil before the meeting and has directed him to come up with an amicable solution. The main complaint is against Balasahab Thorat, who is also the legislative party leader in the Assembly. The party MLAs met Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday to discuss issues of the party in the state, and share their grievances.
