Cong's Digvijaya Singh in legal trouble over his 2019 remarks

Singh would be facing a legal trial in the case which had been quashed earlier in January 2020 but a review petition by an RSS worker for initiating proceedings against him for making defamatory remarks, has re-opened it. Accepting the review petition, a Gwalior court has directed the trial court to register a case of defamation against Singh for his alleged utterances against the Bajrang Dal and the BJP, at a political function.

After being sentenced to prison for a year, Sidhu seeks more time to surrender

On Thursday, the top court sentenced Sidhu to one-year rigorous imprisonment in a 1988 road rage case, saying victims of crime are humiliated when the offender is let off with a relatively minor punishment. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Sidhu, was told by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar to approach the Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana.
Sidhu to surrender in Patiala court

A few party leaders reached his residence before his surrender to extend moral support to Sidhu, 58, a former legislator from Amritsar (East) and a three-time Amritsar MP from the BJP. Sidhu was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the Narendra Modi government in April 2016. He joined the Congress party just days ahead of the Assembly elections in February 2017.

The scam involved taking land from unemployed youths on the pretext of providing them government jobs. A CBI source said that a fresh case was recently lodged against Lalu and others for accepting bribes from unemployed youths and cheating them on the pretext of providing them jobs in the government sector.
