Opting Out: BJP's Pawan Singh Withdraws from Asansol Contest

Taking to his official social media handle, Singh expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the trust they placed in him by nominating him as the candidate for Asansol. However, citing unforeseen reasons, he regretfully stated his inability to contest the elections from the constituency.

Following the BJP's announcement of his candidacy for the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal, renowned Bhojpuri actor-singer Pawan Singh declared on Sunday that he would not be able to participate in the upcoming elections.

Taking to his official social media handle, Singh expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the trust they placed in him by nominating him as the candidate for Asansol. However, citing unforeseen reasons, he regretfully stated his inability to contest the elections from the constituency.

In his message, Singh specifically acknowledged BJP's national president, J.P. Nadda.

Asansol boasts a significant population of Hindi-speaking voters, predominantly hailing from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

The current incumbent Lok Sabha member representing the constituency is veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, affectionately known as 'Bihari Babu', who himself hails from Bihar.
