Aditya Yadav, hailing from the lineage of senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Shivpal Yadav, has emerged as the chosen candidate to contest from the Badaun Lok Sabha constituency on the Samajwadi Party ticket.
The announcement was made official by SP District President Ashish Yadav, signaling a resolution following internal deliberations within the party. Initially, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav had advocated for his uncle Shivpal Yadav's candidacy for the Badaun seat. However, responding to the sentiments of local communities and the party's grassroots workers, Akhilesh eventually endorsed Aditya as the candidate.
Aditya has taken the necessary steps to formalize his candidacy by procuring the nomination papers from the collectorate.
In the impending Lok Sabha elections, Aditya will engage in electoral competition with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee, Durvijay Singh Shakya.
The BJP's decision to nominate Shakya over the incumbent Sanghmitra Maurya, daughter of the dissident leader Swami Prasad Maurya, indicates a strategic maneuver aimed at countering the SP's influence in the region. Shakya's trajectory from a student union leader to a significant political persona is being highlighted by the BJP, portraying him as a leader rooted in the community.
Expressing his vision for the constituency, Shakya, who filed his nomination on Friday, emphasized his commitment to prioritize issues of employment and development.
