Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be sworn in for his third consecutive term on Sunday evening.
According to sources, several members of his council of ministers will also take their oaths along with PM Modi.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his day by paying his obeisance to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and heading to Sadaiv Atal to offer his wreath to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Next in line, he visited the National War Memorial where, along with the Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh, he laid a wreath.
On Sunday evening, Rashtrapati Bhavan will host the event, which will be attended by foreign principals from neighboring countries, including Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, Seychellois Vice-President Ahmed Afif, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda,' and Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay.
With his oath of office, PM Modi will also enter the league of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who was elected three times in a row after winning general elections in 1952, 1957, and 1962 general polls.
