In a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several key Central Ministers, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, and BJP President J.P. Nadda, Mohan Charan Majhi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Odisha on Wednesday. At a packed Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, besides, two Deputy Chief Ministers, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, also took the oath of office.
At the function, former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who had ruled the State for 24 years till recently, was present. He congratulated the new government before the same gathering.
This is the first time that the BJP came to power in Odisha, breaking the BJD's long-standing stronghold in the state assembly elections. Many Chief Ministers were present at the historic occasion from the BJP-ruled states.
Recently, Mohan Majhi offered homage to the more خص prominent personalities of the state and later reached the residence of outgoing CM Naveen Patnaik to invite him for the oath-taking ceremony.
