Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has promoted her nephew Akash Anand to the newly fashioned role of chief national coordinator—a tremendous step that puts him above the current national coordinators and practically makes him the party's second in command.
The news came at a vital coordinators' meeting in New Delhi on Sunday. This follows Anand's recent re-entry into the party last month, following a hiatus.
The chief national coordinator post has been specially created for Anand, reflecting his increasing hold within the BSP leadership framework.
In a gesture of appreciation, Anand went on X to thank Mayawati for bringing him back into the organisation.
"I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart behen ji. She has pardoned my errors and has provided me with a chance to be of use to fortify the Bahujan mission and movement," he stated.
Anand returned to the party last month after openly apologizing and reasserting his loyalty to Mayawati, respecting her as his only political guru.
