In a move aimed at damage control, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declared on Monday that his government supports the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. This statement appears to contradict previous remarks made by his cabinet colleagues.
While expressing the state's backing for the construction of the Shri Ram Mandir, Siddaramaiah clarified that he has not yet received an invitation to attend the temple's inauguration. He mentioned that he would consider attending the ceremony once he receives an invitation.
The statement comes in response to comments made by Karnataka Minister for Planning and Statistics, D. Sudhakar, who criticized the timing of the Ram Mandir's inauguration, calling it a political stunt. Sudhakar accused the BJP of using religious beliefs to gain votes, stating that the temple's inauguration ahead of the Lok Sabha elections was a gimmick.
Sudhakar further questioned the absence of discussions about the Ram Mandir during the previous Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing that the BJP's focus on it now was politically motivated. These conflicting statements within the Karnataka government reveal differing perspectives on the Ram temple issue and its perceived political implications.
