Indian Student Fatally Shot in Canada at 24

In a tragic incident in Vancouver, Canada, a 24-year-old Indian student named Chirag Antil lost his life when he was shot inside his car in the Sunset neighborhood. The Vancouver Police Department confirmed the incident, stating that Chirag Antil was discovered deceased within his vehicle, responding to reports of gunfire from residents in the area.

Expressing concern and seeking assistance for the bereaved family, Varun Choudhary, Congress NSUI chief, reached out to the Ministry of External Affairs. Through a social media post, he urged the ministry to closely monitor the investigation's progress and ensure that justice is served promptly. Additionally, he appealed for necessary support and aid to be extended to the family during this challenging period.

Reports suggest that Chirag Antil's family is raising funds via the crowdfunding platform GoFundMe for the repatriation of his body. Romit Antil, Chirag's brother residing in Haryana, shared his grief with local media, highlighting the close bond he shared with his sibling. Romit disclosed that he had spoken to Chirag on the fateful day of the incident.

Chirag, who had relocated to Vancouver in September 2022, had recently completed his MBA at the University Canada West and obtained his work permit. The loss of such a promising young individual has deeply saddened the community, prompting calls for justice and support for his grieving family.
