UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak denounces Iran's 'reckless' assault on Israel, dispatches fighter jets

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has strongly criticized Iran's recent assault on Israel, labeling it as reckless and affirming the UK's commitment to regional security. The attack, which involved numerous aerial drones and cruise missiles launched overnight, prompted the UK Ministry of Defence to deploy additional Royal Air Force fighter jets to assist in intercepting the drones.

The retaliatory attack by Iran follows an earlier strike on its consulate in Syria, which resulted in the death of seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officers, including a senior commander. While Iran has accused Israel of carrying out the attack, Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement.

India has expressed serious concern over the escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran, emphasizing the need for immediate de-escalation, restraint, and a return to diplomacy. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the importance of maintaining security and stability in the region, closely monitoring developments and ensuring the safety of the Indian community through its embassies in the area.
