Haryana Leader Ashok Tanwar Joins BJP Days After Departing from AAP

Tanwar, a Dalit leader, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, stating that the country has changed in the last 10 years. He expressed his good fortune in joining the BJP ahead of the Ram temple consecration ceremony.

Ashok Tanwar, former Haryana Congress president who recently left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He joined the BJP in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other leaders. Tanwar, a Dalit leader, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, stating that the country has changed in the last 10 years. He expressed his good fortune in joining the BJP ahead of the Ram temple consecration ceremony.

Welcoming Tanwar into the BJP, Chief Minister Khattar humorously referred to him as his "bhanja" (nephew) since they both hail from the same village. Tanwar, who had previously left the Congress in 2019 and joined AAP in 2022, resigned from AAP in protest of a potential alliance with the Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Tanwar's entry into the BJP is expected to bolster the party's efforts to consolidate votes in Haryana, particularly among the Jat community, ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
