Hardeep Puri Vows No Compromise, Promises Strong Action Against Pakistan

Addressing an event organized by the Delhi government and speaking to the media later, Puri criticized Pakistan for its continued support to terrorism against India. He emphasized that Pakistan would soon be brought to its knees—a statement made in reaction to India suspending the Indus Waters Treaty.

In the aftermath of latest Pahalgam killings, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Monday ridiculed Pakistan in strong words for adopting terrorism as a "state policy instrument," while standing firm on the Modi government's resolve to bring Pakistan "to its knees."

He emphasized that Pakistan would soon be brought to its knees—a statement made in reaction to India suspending the Indus Waters Treaty.

This is not the determination of PM Modi alone but of all 140 crore Indians. This time there will be no compromise on the question of terrorism," Puri asserted, underlining the nationwide outrage in the wake of the murder of 26 civilians by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22.

Puri underlined that "terror is being used as an instrument of state policy" by Pakistan, strongly contrasting India's rapid development under PM Modi with the deteriorating scenario on the other side.

Praising the Modi government's firm attitude, the Union Minister condemned earlier governments for expressing transient outrage after terror attacks, only to later resume the process of talks with Pakistan.

This will not be the case now. There will be no settlement on the issue of terrorism," he claimed, adding more, "We have a mature and robust government which will take the most suitable step in the case of the Pahalgam attack.".

Refuting Pakistani leaders' and media alerts that India would suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, Puri dismissed them by stating, "Nothing of that sort will happen… They will be brought down on their knees."

Justifying the government's move, he claimed suspending a treaty between two independent countries was well within justification.

"The situation in 1960 was different when it was signed… If one country gets attacked by the other, will the other nation continue giving freebies," he noted.
