'Had to fight with Nitish to get resignation approved' says Lalan Singh on quitting as JD-U President

During an address to constituents in his home base of Munger, Singh shared that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar initially disagreed with his resignation.

Lalan Singh, former national President of JD-U, recently shed light on the circumstances surrounding his resignation, revealing a disagreement with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who initially opposed his decision to step down.

During an address to constituents in his home base of Munger, Singh shared that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar initially disagreed with his resignation. Singh expressed the need to focus on his constituency's work due to the demanding responsibilities of the JD-U national presidency, which limited his time for local engagement. Eventually, after persistent discussions, Kumar relented and accepted Singh's resignation.

Singh disclosed a conversation where Kumar urged him to sign the nomination form for the JD-U national President role, a proposition that Singh wasn't prepared to embrace. Kumar purportedly informed Singh that refusal to sign the form would result in Kumar declining to endorse any document presented by Singh.

Singh recalled a similar situation in 2022, emphasizing his desire to step down due to time constraints in managing his constituency's affairs. Allegedly, Kumar responded by stating that if Singh resigned from the national presidency, Kumar would resort to extreme measures by hitting his head against the wall.
